Since launching WeChat Pay during this year’s Lantern Festival, PappaRich have received enthusiastic feedback from the local Chinese community and Chinese tourists, for whom this is the most convenient way to pay.
Lovers of Malaysian food can use the WeChat mobile pay app to at the PappaRich restaurant at Aotea Square, Auckland.
WeChat is one of the world’s most popular standalone apps, with more than 1 billion active monthly users. Developed in China, WeChat combines a social media platform with instant messaging, mobile commerce and payment services. The WeChat Pay app, which enables people to pay with their smartphones, has 600 million regular users.
“Our Chinese customers, locals and visitors alike, love using WeChat to stay in touch with friends, conduct business and pay for goods. So, we partnered with WeChat to give them this convenient way to pay,” says Steven Loh, Managing Director for PappaRich New Zealand.
“With WeChat Pay, settling a bill is simply a matter of scanning the QR code at the cash register. You don’t need a wallet to dine at PappaRich, just your smartphone.”
PappaRich is among the first New Zealand restaurants using WeChat Pay. There are already 170,000 local users of the app in New Zealand and the app is available in 20 languages.
